Curd and yogurt are both fermented dairy product- that are made by adding bacteria to milk. They are both good source of protein, calcium, and other nutrient. However, there are some key differences between the two.

Curd is a traditional Indian dairy product that is made by curdling milk with natural acidic substance - such as lemon juice or vinegar( also curd). Curdling process cause the milk protein to coagulate, forming a thick, creamy substance. Curd is typically eaten plain or used in other dishe such as raita or kadhi.
2. What is yogurt?
Yogurt is fermented dairy product that is made by adding bacteria (Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophiles) to milk and then allowing it to ferment for several hours.These bacteria convert- lactose in milk into lactic acid-- which gives yogurt its characteristic tart flavor. Yogurt is typically eaten plain or used in other dishe- such as smoothies or dessert.
3. Similarities between curd and yogurt
Despite their difference- curd and yogurt have many similarities. Both are good source of protein, calcium and other nutrient. They also both have probiotic properties- which means they contain live bacteria that are beneficial for gut health.
4. Differences between curd and yogurt
Main difference between curd and yogurt is the way they are made. Curd is made by curdling milk with natural acidic substance while yogurt is made by fermenting milk with bacteria. This difference in production process but result in some difference in the nutritional content of curd and yogurt.

Curd has a slightly higher protein content than yogurt. A 100-gram serving of curd contain about 11 gram of protein while a 100-gram serving of yogurt contain about 10 gram of protein.
(ii) Curd vs. yogurt: Calcium content
Curd and yogurt are both good source of calcium. A 100-gram serving of curd contain about 120 milligram of calcium while a 100-gram serving of yogurt contain about 100 milligram of calcium.
(iii) Curd vs. yogurt: Probiotic content
Probiotic content of curd and yogurt depend on the type of bacteria used to ferment the milk. Curd made with natural acidic substance will have a lower probiotic content than yogurt made with Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophiles.
(iv) Curd vs. yogurt: Fat content
Curd is typically made with whole milk- while yogurt can be made with whole milk, low-fat milk or skim milk. As a result, curd has a higher fat content than yogurt.
(v) Curd vs. yogurt: Lactose content
The bacteria used to make yogurt help to break down the lactose in milk. This means that yogurt is easier to digest for people who are lactose intolerant than curd.
(vi) Curd vs. yogurt: Taste
Curd has slightly sour taste, while yogurt has more tart taste. This is because yogurt contains more lactic acid than curd.
5. Which one is better for you?
The best choice for you will depend on your individual preference and need. If you are looking for a dairy product that is high in protein & calcium then yogurt is good choice. If you are lactose intolerant, then yogurt is also good choice because it has lower lactose content than curd. If you are looking for a dairy product that is easy to digest then yogurt is also good choice. However, if you prefer the taste of curd, then that is the better choice for you.
